Description: Obverse Legend (1860-1873), Designer - Engraver: Christian Gobrecht, Metal Composition: 90% Silver - 10% Copper, Diameter: 15.5 mm, Mass: 1.24 grams

In 1860 the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA inscription was moved to the obverse of the half dime and the stars were taken out. The wreath on the reverse was designed as a “cereal wreath”. Points to check include the head of Miss Liberty on the obverse, the wreath details on the reverse as well as the dentils on both sides.
