Description: Heraldic Eagle (1797-1804), Designer - Engraver: Robert Scot, Metal Composition: 90% Gold - 10% Copper, Diameter: 33 mm, Mass: 17.5 grams

This coin shares the same obverse as the previous type. The reverse features a heraldic eagle of the same design as that used on other coinage of the time. The points to check include the hair and stars on the obverse as well as the neck of the eagle, the shield, stars, and clouds on the reverse. Dentils on both sides should also be checked. The majority of specimens available on the market are in the higher grades, usually between EF and lower MS. Eagles issued in 1798 are rare. The coin as a type is rarely collected below the VF level.
