The design on this coin is by James Longacre who was Chief Engraver at the time. The same design was used on the gold dollar of the same period. The points to check include the hair and the feather plumes on the obverse as well as the wreath and the date on the reverse. As a type, this coin is rarely collected below the VF level. Except for the first year of issue, MS coins of most dates range from scarce to rare.
