There are two subtypes depending in the year of issue. The first type was minted between 1813 and 1829; the second type which had an enlarged diameter was produced between 1829 and 1834. The points to check include the hair and the stars on the obverse and eagle on the reverse. Some varieties (especially the early issues of 1813 and 1814) are available on the market, even if they are by no means plentiful. Later issues can be either rare or very rare or extremely rare. As a type, this coin is rarely collected below the EF level.
