Draped Bust Half Dimes, Heraldic Eagle Reverse (1800-1805)
Coin number: MC127
Heraldic Eagle Reverse (1800-1805), Designer - Engraver: Robert Scot, Metal Composition: 89% Silver - 11% Copper, Diameter: 16.5 mm, Mass: 1.35 grams
The combination of Draped Bust and Heraldic Eagle was used from 1800 to 1805. Most coins have some issues with light striking. The points to check include the central details of Miss Liberty on the obverse and the details of the shield (together with the stars and clouds above it) on the reverse. Sharp striking enhances the value of the coin tremendously. Grading on this coin is not always realistic so careful selection is advisable.
