Coin number: MC149
Description: No Stars (1837-1838), Designer - Engraver: Christian Gobrecht, Metal Composition: 90% Silver - 10% Copper, Diameter: 17.9 mm, Mass: 2.67 grams
This design was used for the dime only at the Philadelphia Mint in 1837 and the New Orleans Mint in 1838. With its starless obverse, the coin is very attractive. Points to check include the highest parts of the Liberty figure on the obverse and the leaves on the reverse. The dentils on both sides should also be checked. Stay away from coins which have been processed.
