Peace, Early Silver Dollars (1921-1935)

Peace, Early Silver Dollars (1921-1935)

Coin number: MC215

Description: Early Silver Dollars (1921-1935), Designer - Engraver: Anthony de Francisci, Metal Composition: 90% Silver - 10% Copper, Diameter: 38.1 mm, Mass: 26.73 grams

The obverse features the design used on the Saint-Gauden’s gold double eagle launched in 1907. The reverse features an eagle perched on a branch. Problems with light striking on this type include the central area of the obverse and the eagle’s feathers on the reverse. Very small “milk spots” are evident on some Peace dollars (leftover from the original minting) and these coins should be avoided. As a type, the Peace dollar is rarely collected below the Fine level.
